From Thoughts and Dreams to Reality

Writer's picture: JaniceJanice
Be careful of your thoughts, for your thoughts become your words. Be careful of your words, for your words become your actions. Be careful of your actions, for your actions become your habits. Be careful of your habits, for your habits become your character. Be careful of your character, for your character becomes your destiny. — Chinese Proverb, author unknown

We all have dreams, whether of home ownership, entrepreneurship, dreams for our children, retirement,etc.--dreams of what we want in life. Often, those dreams are never realized mainly because our thoughts and ideas remain just that--thoughts and ideas.

Thoughts and dreams will only become reality when we transition from thinking to doing, taking those thoughts and creating and working a plan of action to turn them into a reality.

All things start with a dream, thought or idea. Janice M. Haynes Consulting started because I had a vision…. A vision to see women experiencing wholeness and happiness regardless of their past. A vision to see visions and dreams come to life and your God-ordained purpose to be fulfilled.

A vision to provide communications and strategy services to ministry-based and non-profit organizations.

The difference in having the dream and seeing it come to life is acting on it. So, are you ready to move your thoughts and dreams to reality? If so, let’s get started!

The steps below will assist entrepreneurs in bringing thoughts and dreams to life. However the steps can be implemented in any area of your life!

Start thinking differently. Change your thought from “maybe I can do this” to “I can have everything I’ve created on my vision board, everything I’ve dreamed of and thought about.”

Remember, your thoughts become your words and your words become your actions. Only positive thoughts and words! The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale is a great book to help your new way of thinking.

Identify what you want to happen in your business/life. Be sure to write them down. We recommend identifying no more than three areas. Choosing too many may become overwhelming causing you to completely stop. Identifying what you want will begin the process of creating your plan. Remember just because you are not choosing something now doesn’t mean it won’t happen, it simply means what has been chosen is what you want to work on now.

Surround yourself with people that will encourage you. We all need support and encouragement at some point in life. Remember, this applies to those you surround yourself with. Choose only positive people!

Create goals. Once you’ve identified the three areas you want to work on, determine the goals you want to achieve in each area and the steps needed to make this happen. Taking the time now to create the strategy needed for implementation will make bringing your dreams to reality a lot easier.

*For Entrepreneurs--Take advantage of strategy consultation. This is the step that might require a strategist or coach to assist you. I offer consultations on creating your strategy. To start, schedule online.

Here are some strategy questions to think about:

  • What is your concept/vision?

  • How will your organization and business process flow?

  • What are your communications, marketing and branding plans?

  • What legal structure will you have?

  • What time frame do you have for launching/implementing your vision?

Moving from vision to reality can appear to be overwhelming, however breaking things down into manageable steps makes it very possible for you to transition from thoughts and dreams to reality.

Never stop dreaming and more importantly don’t forget your dreams can come become a reality.

Dream (and plan!) big.
